That felty feeling…

Morning!

Following on from yesterday’s post about some of the random things I’ve been trying my hand at lately, here are a couple more…

Firstly, teeny tiny bunting. It really is tiny too! The triangles were cut from 4mm thick 100% wool felt, and the letters needled felted on in merino wool. I then hand stitched each triangle onto baker’s twine:

I made this to decorate the packaging for my nephews 1st birthday present – here it is on the parcel:

Fiddly to make, but possibly something I could develop and include in my shop…!

And next, those of you that follow my alter ego on Twitter may recognise this little fellow:

He’s my avator, and I’ve grown very attached to him! He developed from this little doodle:

I decided to try and bring him to life in felt – again I used thick 100% wool felt, lightly stuffed his body, and needled felted his eyes and nose (and a tiny tail):

He’s now a permanent feature on my bag, and matches my phone case (which I had made by one of those online places – pricey, but I love having one of my own designs protecting my phone!):

I’d like to perfect his design and add a range to my shop – probably a teensy bit smaller – here are a few more animals I’ve doodled in the same style that would all work well in felt:

So, who knows what noofings will pop up in my Etsy shop over the coming months…? 🙂

CraftBlogUK-tastic!

Evening all!

Just remembered about the WordPress app on my phone so thought I’d pop a wee blog!

One of my Craftbritannia teamies on Etsy told me about the Christmas Link Party that CraftBlogUK are running – you add a piccie of one of your favourite creations, and after the deadline anyone can vote on their favourites. CraftBlogUK will then feature the winner on their blog.

Being of the shy, retiring type (!) I’ve never done anything like this before, but in a sudden fit of madness I posted a piccie of my little snowy wol brooch 🙂

And squeeeeeeee! There’s still over two days to vote, but at the mo little wol is in the lead with 32 votes!

There are some fabulous crafters featured there – including some of my Craftbritannia teamies – so if you have a mo, pop over and have a look. You can vote for up to three items, so if you join in please use all your votes 🙂

Stupidbirds?

Oh deary deary me, it’s been an absolute age since I blogged – naughty stupidcats!

Things have been rather busy of late, amongst other things I applied for a new job (eeek, scarey!), got an interview for the new job (oooooh, even scarier!) and then… GOT THE JOB! I started it 3 weeks ago and am absolutely loving it… I might have to blog about it another time!

But before that, I’d like to share some of my latest noofings with you. The lovely CariadClay recently asked me if I could make her a little owl brooch, so I created a little grey hooty-beauty for her, and have since sold 3 more! Hurrah! Thanks CariadClay!

Since then I’ve also made a wee bluebird, and today I finished and listed a little snowy owl – here they are, hope you like ’em!

Noofings and a busy weekend for Craftbritannia!

‘Allo everyone!

I’m getting rather excited – bought a felt-making book ‘cos I want to have a go at wet felting but wasn’t quite sure where to start – it arrived yesterday, and now I’m DESPERATE to have a go! Have to get a few minor bits of kit first though, bah!

I also received some 4mm thick 100% wool felt squares I’d ordered to have a play with – here’s the result:

I cut the keyrings and motifs from the thick felt, then needlefelted the motifs on each side, so they’re the same on both sides. Oh yes, I’ve also been playing another new thing – rivet pliers, yay!

On another subject, it’s been a busy weekend for the Craftbritannia team on Etsy – we started a
BNR
on Friday night, and it’s still going! 74 sales and counting! It’s open until tonight, so you still have plenty of time to join in if you like – or just stop by to chat!

That’s all for now! Maybe next time I’ll have my first attempts at wet felting to show you… squeeeeeee!
